In this era of new media and communication methods books on architecture still remains the basic architectural medium. Not only in architecture itself but in architectural books as well, the best achievements are characterized by outstanding design, a clear concept, high quality in terms of material and finishing, a high level of innovation, and an appropriate relationship between the task at hand, the budget, and the solution.

For the first time ever Deutsches Architekturmuseum (DAM) is this year asking for entries to be submitted for the DAM Architectural Book Award. All art and architectural book publishers that bring out books and exhibition catalogs on cities, urban planning, architecture and architectural photography are invited to do so, as are the authors and editors of the afore-mentioned books. Entry deadline is 30 September 2009.

The public award-giving ceremony will be held on Wednesday October 14, 2009 at 8 p.m. in the auditorium at Deutsches Architekturmuseum. Following the ceremony you are cordially invited to a reception in the DAM foyer. The award-winning books will be on view during the Frankfurt Book Fair at the Deutsches Architekturmuseum stand in Hall 4.1 (Stand P 559) from October 15, 2009. As part of the “OPEN BOOKS – Buchmesse im Frankfurter Kunstverein” series of events Deutsches Architekturmuseum will present the winners of the DAM Architectural Book Award 2009 on Thursday, October 15, 2009 from 2 p.m. – 3.30 p.m. at Frankfurter Kunstverein.
